Career Services Division Representatives

I am excited to update you with the work the N3CSDPA Career Services Division has been doing. To remind you of our mission: The North Carolina Community College Student Development Personnel Association (N3CDPA) is an association of student development professionals from community colleges across the state which are organized to promote professional growth and development, to study problems which are of mutual interest and concern to members of the organization and to advance high standards of professional conduct within the field. We have done a number of things that we believe are clearly in keeping with the spirit of this mission.
As you may recall, we held a webinar on March 17th to share the results of our career services survey from late 2009. Following this, we finalized a list of 58 Career Services Liaisons (CSLs), each to serve as a primary contact for the purpose of information sharing and development of ongoing internal training opportunities that will be specifically targeted to professional development of career services staff at each college. Please join me in a special word of thanks to Pat Nash at Central Piedmont CC and my N3CSDPA co-representative, Charles Mayer at Davidson Community CC for their tireless efforts in bringing this all together.
As a result of the early initiative and enthusiastic participation of several of our CSLs, we have successfully developed several webinars we will be holding this summer. These webinars are developed by the CSLs and are specifically targeted to their fellow CSLs and other interested staff members that provide direct career services at each college. These are brief, no cost webinars that allow our career services staff to collaborate with each other, share best career services practices and ultimately benefit each of our colleges and their students. Due to limited seating capacity, the CSLs will receive the initial invitations and then be asked to personally invite their fellow career services staff to join them at a single computer if at all possible.
Please see the attached chart that describes these webinars (some dates/times to be confirmed). We are also tentatively planning a Professional Day for the CSLs and Career Services staff to join together in June, 2011. The chart also includes the dates for the CFNC Summer 2010 workshops that were just announced this morning by the state system office.
I have also attached the updated CSL list. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak with the CSL at your college or contact me directly. We greatly appreciate your support and encouragement of the CSLs and their career services colleagues in attending these webinars.
Thank you so much,
